Uptown Century Home
Character filled century-home renovation in uptown Toronto, blending original architectural details with a warm, contemporary interior.
The exposed concrete ceiling was the starting point — and the constraint. Rather than fight it, every subsequent decision either honored or softened the rawness of the existing structure.
A custom steel and glass partition creates a bedroom zone without walls, preserving the loft’s spatial openness. The kitchen, clad in handmade terracotta tiles, introduces color and tactility as a counterpoint to the cool grey of the concrete above.
Lighting was designed in layers: ambient tracks recessed into the ceiling, a pendant over the dining area that marks the room’s center, and table lamps that create warmth at human scale in the evening.
